How Michael Phelps should respond.
I actually feel bad for him. I mean, this all says more about the weird repression/prohibition mentality America has about marijuana than any failings on his part. If this were a picture of him kicking back with a beer, everyone would be all “Hey, he deserves a cold one!” But because it’s pot, it’s a huge scandal. Even a cigarette would have gotten less disapproval.
It also means he can’t trust anybody. I assume he thought he was with friends. Some friends. First they turned him on to the evil weed… then they destroy his career with a cellphone camera?

Really though, in a time when investment bankers and credit card companies have completely mangled the world economy to it’s core, why do people even care about crap like this?
If he ends up ruining his career from this absurd incident (a picture, mind you, not even a drug test), it would truly be a damn shame. He won 14 gold medals, what more do people want from the guy?
I’m glad he’s already in training for the 2016 games in Amsterdam.

Now that he’s lost his Subway deal I wonder if their entire stoner client base will start eating at Quiznos.
