Google the past! They have made their oldest index, January 2001, available. (A little under 7 years ago, but when you see some of the pages you’ll remember that it was a different era.) Search it here.

NYTimes on Lolitas

New York Times: A New Generation of Lolitas Makes a Fashion Statement.

Not only has the Lolita look made it to New York, it has made it into the Times. I’ve been entranced by this style since I first saw it in Tokyo in 2001, and it is refreshing to see NY chicks rocking it. The ones in the article’s slide shows seem to be more focused on the cute angle than their Harajuku sisters, but they somehow make it look more kickass at the same time. Honey-pie on the left up above seems to be daring you to call her cute.

17 years’ worth of daily dual self-portaits

“Every day I position myself in the center of this ring and take two simultaneous photos (180 degrees apart). The ring is marked off for the 365 days of the year and a pair of crosshairs (mounted on a sliding wooden fixture) are incremented along the circumference of the ring to line up with these markings. I use the crosshairs to position my head as nearly as possible in the center of the ring. So far, I’ve accumulated approximately 17 years worth of photos (the project was started in ’91).” Source.
