6 commentsDavid Bowie Alien Phenomena

I didn’t really listen to David Bowie in the 70′s, but all his science fiction references really permeated my childhood then somehow. So I was a little excited to find a site called David Bowie Alien Phenomena. The site isn’t particularly cohesive, but there are some interesting fragments if you want to take the time to sift through them. I particularly like the Pleiades Connection, but ultimately the “Space Oddity” typeface and alien imagery need to stand on their own with the lyrics.

Baghdad Pizza
![]()
I saw the recent Frontline about contractors in Iraq the other night. There were some scenes of soldiers in a food court ordering pizza from fast food employees hired from other countries. Hoping to find the same kind of corporate militarist imagery, I did a search for terms like “baghdad pizza”. I ended up at the blog of a colonist in Iraq along with two other soldiers/contractors/consultants posting to a site. If nothing else, they offer a unique perspective of things over there – or at least one I can’t relate to.
