The Final Countdown
The final episode of Ultraforce.
Comments are off for this postmy brief career as a flyer designer
I was returning home with lunch the other day when this guy jabbering in a thick Scottish accent came up to me and handed me a flyer advertising his paving services. He offered to give me a free estimate and went into this whole spiel that I wish I could have recorded somehow. He was walking down my driveway with his arms spread out telling me what was going to happen each step of the way, none of which I could really understand between his accent and use of paving jargon. Eventually I made it clear I could not discuss his proposal any more on an empty stomach and he went on to other prospects.
I looked at how unexciting his flyer was as I ate my lunch wondering what I was going to say to him if he returned. Having nothing on tap for the day I decided to have a go at redesigning his ad. Maybe if he liked it, I could use it in exchange for a huge discount on resurfacing my driveway! This is the cracked idea I came up with. Thus my fantasies of becoming a flyer designer were brought down a peg. Note to self: Anthropomorphizing dark objects can result in unintended racist overtones.

I had a good time looking at this guy’s drawings while listening to stock, hausen & walkman.
Some particular drawings I liked were this one, this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one.
He is somehow associated with this shoboshobo site which also has a feature on things wrapped in brown tape.
